Meet the Dogs of Team Merchant

Opal

Opal is a senior rescue who joined Brian (and Team Merchant) in 2019. This old lady appreciates treats and is always on the prowl for more. She is very sweet, but will bark aggressively at new people until they acknowledge her and prove they have no goodies to share. They are then promptly ignored. In her spare time Opal enjoys naps under blankets, dressing up and leisurely strolls which do not involve rain.

Pet Peeves: Opal hates water more than most cats.

NOLA

Nola O'Koerner is almost as full of energy as she is with love. She spends her time at Team Merchant helping Andrew and the Chicago office stay vigilant about threats from neighborhood squirrels. The only thing Nola loves as much as treats is when one of our clients or team members stops by to say hi!

Pet Peeves: Not being able to lick your mouth, any situation when Josie could be conceivably considered the alpha.

Loki & Freyja

Loki adopted Freyja when she was a puppy. The two have become inseparable and they demand to go everywhere together. Everyone thinks they are related since they look so much alike. Loki is a Malamute and Freyja is a Husky. Although they are different breeds, they both have the typical Husky stubbornness trait. Freyja loves eating bugs, and Loki just loves eating any (and everything) he can find. His most recent snacking event consisted of 5 unopened ketchup packs from a fast-food joint. Fortunately, this is a rare event. Bugs are certainly safer!

Pet peeves: When human fixes the fence. When human runs out of treats.

Josie

Josie is a Golden Retriever who we got from friends of friends who were pregnant with their 7th kid under 8 years old. She is super sweet and requires constant affection. We joke that she has a condition called hypo-pets-itis which has no cure. It just requires constant treatment - more pets. When she has a flair-up if we don’t pet her enough she will pet herself as she really lays on the guilt.

She is wonderful with our 6 month old son and has found a new favorite spot in the house. Next to the high chair!

Pet Peeves: Busy streets, not enough pets.
